Testing Toilet Paper: Scott RV vs Amazon’s Presto
Testing Toilet Paper for the Black Tank
I must say I am very happy to talk to everyone about TOILET PAPER!!! Yes, toilet paper! Since we have had our RV, we have used only one brand of toilet paper, which is Scott Rapid Dissolving toilet paper, made specifically for RVs. It was one of the RV topics I did a lot of research on along with watching a plethora of videos on how to keep the black tank free from problems. That one thing I remember being clearly instructed on was the use of RV toilet paper.
Always Use RV TP!
“Always use RV toilet paper! Don’t ever use regular toilet paper! Don’t trust the “safe for septic” toilet paper….” And, with that information, I did what I was told. I was petrified of regular TP and made sure I kept plenty of RV friendly rolls in the house. Another thing I was always aware of was the price of RV toilet paper. It was high and I noticed the prices were going up.
The cost of RV toilet paper began hurting my wallet and I decided to research a different brand of toilet paper. So, I went to my favorite place to shop… Amazon and was surprised when I found out they had launched a new brand called PRESTO Ultra Soft. It was much less than the RV toilet paper and it said “safe for septic” on it. I decided to take a gamble and try it, but… I was going to do a mini-experiment with it before it found its home in the black tank.
You can watch the video of me testing it with Scott RV tissue, but for those who like to read, I will go on.
I took one roll from each package and compared them. I noticed right away that the Presto toilet paper roll was much larger than the Scott RV roll and the toilet paper hole on the Scott RV roll was also larger, so there was less toilet paper on the roll. I’m getting impressed by what I see so far. I took three sheets from each roll and compared them. The Scott RV paper was thinner than the Presto paper. That was another plus, but the test is how well does it break down when used. This is where my mini-experiment came into play.
I took two bowls and placed one cup of water in each. I then took the Scott RV paper and put it in the left bowl and took the Presto paper and but it in the right bowl, both at the same time. I shook the bowls twice and then removed the lids.
My Tried and True Failed Me
To my surprise, the Scott RV paper did nothing. It didn’t even break down a little bit!!! I said, this was we have been using for three years! WOW. Looking in the right bowl with the Presto toilet paper in it was amazing! You can see it on the video how well it worked. It broke down into small pieces! I am very impressed! So much so that I invested in 48 rolls to travel with on the road.
My family and I are excited to find a less expensive and softer route (smile) in the bathroom. If you are looking for an alternative when it comes to toilet paper, try Presto TP. You may find that your bum and your toilet like it. Let me know in the comment section if you’ve tried Presto and how you liked it.
