Lake of the Woods
One beautiful resort that is close to home is Lake of the Woods in Butte Falls, Oregon. The resort has small and large cabins, RV sites for both dry camping and full hookups, and tent sites, all of which are within walking distance to the lake.
During the summer months, there is live entertainment for people to enjoy along with a restaurant to fill the tummy. I personally like to catch, clean, and cook my dinner, but if I can’t, the restaurant has fish ready for me to eat. Yum!

Campsite and Camp Fires
Each spot has a place for you to have a nice roaring campfire to warm you up on those cool nights. It feels very relaxing sitting around the campfire while listening to the crackling fire and the sounds of nature. We have traveled to this campsite over the past three years and it never gets old. There are two other campsites, Aspen and Sunset, that are within two miles from Lake of the Woods.
These two sites are for those that dry camp or camp using no hook-ups. Our RV allows us to dry camp and have full use of water and electricity so it never feels like there is a lack of anything while camping. When we picked out our RV, we had no idea of how to camp at all. I did a lot of research before choosing our Class A and I do not regret it one bit. Learning to dry camp was challenging at first, but after we traveled out for the first few times, we began to learn how to dry camp like champs.
A Tip for New Rvers
I will say, if you have a new RV, get it out on the road and find out what it can do. Use it as much as you can, if you’re not already living in it full time, so you can address anything that may go wrong while it is still under warranty. Things will go wrong. It is how you handle it (hopefully under warranty) when they do go wrong 🙂 🙁 🙂
Okay, I made a little side trip there, but I am back. I hope you get a chance to check out Lake of the Woods and enjoy the beauty that exudes from being there.
