Johnny Chock- An RV Must Have!
My son called me at work and said, “Mommy, don’t get mad! Listen! Please don’t get mad… I accidentally flooded the RV!” Long pause on my end… Did I just hear that right? Come again? My mind was screaming, You Did WWWHHHAAAAAAAAT, but my mouth calmly repeated the word, Okay… Okay…Okay.
I was trying to calm my thoughts down as my son was bulleting out what happened in the RV like a machine gun, and all I could say was okay.
He was helping dad clean the RV black tank by Sani-flushing it from the outside. Sani-flushing is a way you clean your black tank from the outside instead of inside of your motorhome/trailer. Mikey told me Daddy was outside and he was inside watching the tank. Well, he was supposed to be watching the tank, but he was watching tv stretched out on the couch. It was when he put his feet down that he realized it was water that was coming from the TOILET! He apologized profusely and was shocked I didn’t get more upset than I did.
He said two things and did one thing I appreciated very much:
- He told the truth.
- He told me, “even though it did flood the floor, it didn’t destroy anything major in the RV. The last thing he did was at the beginning of the Sani-flush…
- He put the Johnny Chock (click here to check it out) in the toilet to keep the backflow pressure from building up in the tank while it was being flushed.
The Johnny chock allows you to remove your foot from the toilet pedal. Without it, pressure can build up in the tank and damage your tank seals. He did the right thing by putting it in the toilet, but he didn’t follow through with what he was told to do, which was to stand and watch and see when the water rose (not on the couch while the water shoots out the toilet).
Mickey realized the RV toilet was overflowing when he felt the water, from the black tank, on his feet… in the LIVING ROOM AREA 😨!! He told me, Mommy, it was like the movie RV when Robin Williams yelled, TURN IT OFF!!!!!!! He yelled that to daddy, daddy came running, and daddy said, Oh S**t! LOLOLOL!
It was funny after the fact, but when he told me the toilet was overflowing, I freaked… a little. Okay,… a lot. It could have been worse if the Johnny Chock was not in so I am thankful that it was only an overflow… from the black tank… Okay, wait. So, how did the toilet overflow again?
