Funny Thing with Keto
Funny thing with Keto… When you don’t follow the lifestyle and have no preparation for it, it tends not to work. That sounds like it would be logical, but for some individuals, it is not. Guess what? I am one of those individuals. Here is what happened to me.
In my town, one of the restaurants has a special on wings every Wednesday. Before eating Ketogenically, my family and I loved Wing Wednesdays, and I thought… (hmmm) I could eat barbeque wings on Wednesdays, and it would not affect me. I tried to reason with myself by asking myself, what will it hurt if I eat one… Okay, six hot, juicy, fabulous wings? Who will know except for my family and me? They won’t tell. It’s only one meal… Oh, don’t forget that frosty! It’s just a small frosty. Oh well, I will get back on track tomorrow. I will get myself back in ketosis… I had answers for it all. I was prepared, so I thought.
I had a great battle going on in my head, and I had a response for every one of the questions that were shooting through my mind, but were my responses legitimizing my actions?
Well, I decided to take off from Keto that evening for those wings. I knew how many carbs each wing had and I said, in my head, I will eat only two wings.
No Preparation No Power
My two wings led to six wings and my confidence in myself, after eating them, ended up in the toilet along with those wings!
I hid it well for the first few hours, and then it happened. My stomach had a voice! It was growling, cramping, bloating all at the same time, and demanded face-to-face attention with my bathroom! It sounds funny now, but let me tell you… It was noT. NOT (I have a habit of repeating the word “NOT” when I use it and I am stressing the annunciation of the word)!
Was it worth it? Hmmm. During the intake session, it was worth it, but three hours later and the next two days, I say Nay Nay! The intake session was a learning experience, and it supplied me with several consequences to ponder on should I allow myself to get in that situation again. If I do, I will have the information to make a knowledgeable choice.
What Voice Do You Listen To?
At that moment, I decided to listen to the voice of instant indulgence over experience and knowledge because I did not prepare myself. I will talk more about preparation Keto in upcoming blogs, but for now, when it comes to eating Ketogenically (keto healthy), what voice do you listen to? How do you prepare yourself for battle?
